There are a few things you can do -

Search this site to see if the names have been added by anyone else.
Add the details to http://www.bmdshare.com/
Add a Post'em to the relevant entries on Freebmd

If you decide to leave an email address, get a dedicated email account such as @gmail or @hotmail. Don't leave your everyday one in case of unwanted emails

I have a few 'wrong uns' as I think we all do. I never get rid of them. And have subsequently found at least 2 were related, but not how I thought.

All my certificates have had their information addded to FreeBMD as Postems.

IE

Birth Certificate - DOB, Place of Birth and Parents Names (including mothers maiden name on earlier ones)

Marriage Certificate - On both entries name of Spouse, Date of Marriage, Place of Marriage and both fathers names

Death - DoD - and name of informant if family member and home address.

If any of this info helps one person to buy the correct certificate then I feel it is a small job well done. And I have found some useful Postems which have meant that I purcahsed the correct certifcate.

When contacting other researchers I will always offer copies of any of my certificates, but never give the originals away. I can email copies or scan and print colour copies if people wish.
