Mine tries very hard but he grew up in a home of pose and show and I grew up with the mad woman so I suppose we are doing as well as can be expected.

At least he is not a serial adulterer like old Nylon Knickers was!

Uzzie hang on to him. My husband number 2 was the complete opposite to husband number 1. He loved to cook and produced complete meals including yorkshire puddings . He carried the shopping, opened doors, held my coat and after his retirement helped with the housework. He was very romantic and bought me flowers etc. sadly he died 22 months ago and I miss him very much but I am so pleased I met him and realised that they aren't all like husband number 1.

Uzzi, you really got a keeper there, and I am so glad you have, you deserve a good partner. Long may he continue to cherish you and treat you fairly.

That's another thing about o.h., up to the loo just as I dish up! I am never sure if it's for a secret swig of cider or the real reason, haven't found his latest hiding place for the cider, but haven't really bothered to look. I have decided if he wants to muck up his diabetes even more or drink himself to an early grave, then get on with it. Just need him to make a will, he hasn't done it properly yet but says he has left me a tidy sum....... I don't want to die before him or wouldn't get my pay off lol! And I want to be well enough to spend it as well lol

Reading all these makes me realise how lucky I am. OH doesn´t go to the pub or if he does I go with him and then he either cooks or buys out. When I tell him what time dinner is or ask when he wants dinner is he is there, If I am busy on phone, computer etc he will start and finish dinner. He always sets the table and often helps cooks.

OMG!! my dad would have kept the fish and chips and dished it up for tea!!! and breakfast and lunch till it was eaten!

All men are the same ...I,ve given up cooking coz they always change their minds ...go out get on the phone or moan about what it is

funny I have noticed they often cook what I was going to do if left alone and then they cant moan

BUT they do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a personal question Sharron. :-0
Not now, but he may well have done years ago.

OH loves crumble, I don't like it much and Fred wouldn't eat 'foreign muck' or anything 'poofy'!

I didn't have any fresh fruit so I made a crumble with dried fruit salad, the one with prunes and dried apple rings.

That crumble stood about for ages and I eventually threw it away. It was over ten years before I made another crumble.

If he can't be bothered to be there when you are dishing there is nothing in this world that he can't reheat himself.

I am not proud of this but, in my youth, I had a fling with a married man. I was not his first fling by a long chalk and I very much doubt I was his last. There were, of course reasons for his infidelity. She didn't understand him (only too well! ) and was unreasonable.

One example he was relating to me was when she had cooked Sunday lunch for 1pm and he came in at 5.30 and she created Merry Hell at him.

"You wouldn't have done that would you Sharron?"

"Well, no, of course not, but then again, sandwiches don't spoil much do they?"

That was not a long and memorable fling.

If it is a really lovely meal that is about to be served, we want to give it and the cook absolutely full attention. We want to be relaxed and get all the things out of way that will prevent our stunning conversation and attention.

So we phone our mum in case she disturbs this important meal, and we attend to any niggling bodily functions.

Then we are all yours :-D :-D Right through to the coffee and mints and the glass of port.

I gave up the unequal struggle against the pub some time ago.
Now, I prepare everything but don´t start to cook it until he is safely back inside the house unless it´s something like a casserole that can be cooked in advance & re heated.
What is it about mens, bladders that give them the urge to go just as you put their plate in front of them?

Men are just...... Exasperating!

My o.h. will always decide to phone his father, sister or son just a few minutes after I have told him his dinner will be ready in five minutes! Then I have to keep it going without burning it while he chats for half an hour! I have on occasions dished up my own and sat and ate it while he chatted and then made him wait till I am ready to dish up his burnt offering but it doesn't teach him!

TS, that's the sort of thing I would have done if he went to the pub lol but a shame you had to suffer afterwards. No wonder he was an ex!
Good riddance to bad rubbish!

:-D :-D :-D :-D at Wisechild i love the Mr Right comment.

Many years ago my ex husband always went to the pub Sunday lunch times with the 'boys'. I stayed at home looking after two small girls and cooking the full scale Sunday roast ready for his return.

Nearly every Sunday he would be late getting back, staying in the pub till closing time, and the dinner was ruined.

One week I got fed up with waiting and so I plated up his dinner and took it and the children to the pub. I walked in the bar and in front of all his mates said "Sunday lunch is for families and as you obviously aren't coming home I have brought the lunch and the family to you"

He was not amused as I found out to my cost when we got home but his mates had a good laugh.
