In my ten years of GR, I doubt I have looked at any other board than this one more than half a dozen times, even on here I only look at some of the threads.

I know very little about anybody on here and have only met one or two briefly and I forget who is who.

All sorts of fights and intrigues go on and I miss them completely, just reading threads alluding to them later.

Am I not getting the best out of my subscription.

I'm the same Sharron. Been a member for 10 years and I only occasionally post on the General Board. I can't be doing with fights and back biting etc.

Use the site mainly for doing look-ups on Find Ancestors board and I'm not really doing any research of my own unless I come across something without really looking!!

The best thing is to start a new thread yourselves with some subject or other that you like to discuss.

It can be nice to read both sides of a debate. And if you find the thread is going awry & out of your control, you have the option to delete the whole thing.

Same here Sharron. I wondered how I was missing all the drama for so many years, then discovered that some peoples idea of a major hoo-ha is a meer "tsk" to others.

I'm the same, because I spend time away from home and don't have internet access I sometimes have 2/3 weeks when I am not here. Then on returning I can usually see at least one rr thread or someone leaving thread.. Perhaps none of us are getting value for money lol. :-D I do read most threads even though I don't have anything to add a lot of the time.

Island, I "tsk" quite a few times at some threads.

Perhaps it depends what you want to get out of your subscription Sharron.


I've been a member since 2003 and use the site daily.

Have got one version of my tree on here and play with it on and off.

I contribute regularly to two or three longstanding threads on different boards but have to admit that I've only been looking at Chat more regularly since the other boards became so slow moving.

I look at all of the threads on the FA and GC boards everyday because I let new members know when they have replies to their questions.

Last year I met up with a fellow member and, all being well, hope to meet a few more in a couple of weeks. Some of the folk I chat to on here I regard as 'friends' and we have been chatting for several years both on here and on FB.

Sometimes I get involved in the heated 'discussions' but it depends on how dear the topic is to me.

If a subject doesn't interest me I overlook it and I've only RR'd one post in my life and that was years ago.


So, personally, I reckon that I'm getting more than my monies worth!!!

I have been posting on here recently

and have my say now and again on other boards

I did rr a thread second one ever and got my self into one of those arguments so if I see the name I stay clear
but she does not seem to be around at the moment

I have learned a lot by reading posts om the boards
