It makes me smile when I find funny names in my tree - Fanny Adcock etc.
The funniest marriage found is an Elizabeth Snow married a Henry Ball - yes they had plenty of little 'SnowBalls'! :-D
Come on...I bet you all found better ones than those?

Winifred A Hoare - a gg aunt.

In Corfe museum last week, a knitter in 1881 was called Mary Shitley.
As I said to my 11 year old grand daughter - 'Unusual surname - never heard it before - probably extinct now' :-D

Another name I have never heard of in my lifetime is that of my gggg grandmother - Scraggleford!!

My gran never said who my dad's dad was.
However, she was brought up, for a period of her life by her aunt, who married a Mr Gay, and had a few sons, one of whom was 2 years younger than my gran.

It was fortunate that my brother knew about the Gay family, as, at gran's funeral, a man who he didn't know, came up to my brother (who, like my gran and dad has piercing blue eyes) and said:
'You have Gay eyes'

I think I may know, from this one comment who my dad's father was!!

One of the Gay ancestors (a boy) was named

Brighton Gay!!
