Tragic loss at sea again in helicopter crash

My heart goes out to the families and friends of the four people lost in the latest helicopter crash near the Shetland Isles.

These people put their trust in the helicopters that take them to and from the rigs they work on, and yet again lives have been lost because the helicopter wasn't up to the job.

Surely by now lessons should have been learned so these accidents don't continue to happen.

O.h's son has to go on helicopters out to the rig near Norway where they are trying to get the remaining gas from the seabeds, he works for a company that helps get these machines up and running or in this case, down and running as it's going to be on the seabed. He is away at the mo, it must be scary for him to have to put his life in the hands of the helicopter companies who do the transfers. He has a wife and two small children at home, and any amount of insurance wouldn't make up for his loss, heaven forbid.

May the three men and the woman who died rest in peace.

Another very sad and tragic loss of life in the quest to find oil and gas - my heartfelt condolences go out to the families of George Allison, Sarah Darnley, Duncan Munro, and Gary McCrossan, who all died in this latest incident - R.I.P.

My thoughts are also with all those who will now be recalling memories of their loved ones who lost their lives in incidents involving helicopters while travelling to or from the North Sea Oilfields.

It's certainly dreadful. Hopefully the powers that be will have a proper review of the helicopter's safety - and CHC, the firm involved.
Five crashes in 5 years is too much.
Never had this problem when Bristows did the oil rig runs.

We see many helicopters come over the field at the end of the garden to the nearby airport, most are ferrying rig workers back and forth.

Things never change do they, in olden days (and even now especially abroad) lives are lost mining for coal and such, and now getting oil and gas is causing great loss of life.

My thoughts have been with the families and all who knew and loved the people lost and as you say OFITG, it will bring back the memories of previous accidents and loss to others.
