You're not the only one who loved him BC....you've reminded me of .The Madonna of the Seven Moons...lovely films in those days....or is it me getting old as these days I don't care for cinemas as everything is too loud and in your face.
Loved Gregory Peck as well. Ah well we can dream!!

I had such a crush on him. Madonna of the Seven Moons! *swoons.. :-D Yes Shirley, he was married to Jean Simmons but was secretly in love with me..lol...Thanks Elizabeth for reminding me <3

Wasnt he married to Jean Simmons at one time or did they just do films together?

Hello

Hope you are well.

Stewart Granger was born james Lablache Stewart in May 1913.
He had to change his name as there was another very well-known actor James Stewart.

He made his film debut in 1933 and spent several years learning his craft in
local theatres.

Later, Mr Granger enlisted in World War II but was invalided out.

His first signficant part was in "The Man in Grey" in 1943 made by the Gainsborough Studios. He became a household name immediately.

Other films included:

"The Magic Bow" in which Granger played Niccolò Paganini and
"Madonna of the Seven Moons".

The cinema public's thirst for romantic period dramas waned.

By 1949, Mr Granger moved to Hollywood and completed two films with
Deborah Kerr, "King Solomon's Mines" and"The Prisoner of Zenda, where he
played two parts.


Mr Granger acted with John Wayne in "North to Alaska".


In Germany, Mr Granger acted in the role of Old Surehand in three Western films adapted from novels by German author Karl May, with French actor Pierre Brice (playing the fictional Indian chief Winnetou).


Mr Granger wrote his auto-biography, in which he pulled no punches about the world of acting and production.


He passed away, 20 years in 1993.
