'Relaxed Performance' at the theatre

I know many of you care for family or work with people who have special needs, including Autism, and wondered if you had come across this.
I hadn't come across it until browsing the programme for Norwich Theatre. They have one relaxed performance of the pantomime and states it is 'a supportive and relaxed atmosphere throughout the theatre especially suited to those with autism and a wide range of disabilities. Patrons are free to move around and make a noise during the performance' They are having members of Anglia Autism along with their own trained staff at the performance.

I googled (as you do!) to find out more and it's a fairly new venture (started last year) and is available in a few other theatres.
I thought it sounded a brilliant idea, but I have no experience of autism - those who care for and work with people who have special needs may think otherwise.

Like you, Lyndi, I have no real experience of autism, but this does look like a great idea. People with this condition can then enjoy a performance without being "tutted" at! :-)

What a fantastic idea!!
Well done to those who are organising such an event.

This is becoming quite a popular idea within the autism community Lyndi, and it's great for those who have an 'active' condition.

Some cinemas also have autism friendly showings of certain films.

I have a friend who has twin boys aged 8. One has Asperger's, the other doesn't.

The lad with AS was fine with the friendly screening, but his brother got bored!! It's easier for the parents to take one each to two showings!!

:-)
