Is it tomorrow? Just heard something on the radio which suggests it is. If so Good Luck to all expecting their results, a worrying time for them and a tense time for their families.

Its the AS and A2 results tomorrow and the GCSE next week - Thurs 22 Aug.

The schools get them the day before but aren't allowed to release them earlier.

Fingers crossed that the Year 13s getting what they were hoping for/predicted as their future plans depend on them.

Thanks, I thought OH must have misheard as I was sure it was next week for GCSEs.

A levels are split into 2 components at the moment - as they keep changing things, that may not last much longer.

Year one of a 2 year course is an AS. Students can opt out of the second year. ~The second year is called the A2. The two together in the same subject add up to the old A level.

I think it was to give the students a more rounded education. For instance, they could study 4 or even 5 subjects for the first year, then drop or change one or two the second.

The other angle is that they all provide UCAS points which are needed for University entrance. Offer letters from Unis usually say something like 1000 Points (making the number up!) to include 2 x grade B and 1 x grade C at A level.

Hi Ann and DET, my youngest will get some of his GCSE results next week. He is 15 today but sat 4 exams in year 10, the old year 4:) it's a normal state school but I think they were trying to get the students through before things change again. Hopefully he will have passed but as he is the youngest in his year and taking them a year early time will tell :-) I will be thinking of all the youngsters in the next couple of weeks

You're probably right about pushing them through GCSE exams before the cirriculum changed.

Year 12 was the Lower Sixth Form
Year 13 was the Upper Sixth Form
