I used the liquid Flora because it was hanging about but I do sometimes use Trex or vege suet.

I actually prefer them steamed but wasn't going to do that because it's August.

Sharron,

My mum's 'recipe' was almost the same as yours apart from the 'fat'.

I hate to mention this on your thread but years ago they used shredded suet. :-D

Got my taste buds going, love it and bread and butter pudding too. (Bread and butter pudding is lovely made with Brioche) you can keep fancy cuisine, the simpliest foods often take a lot of beating!

I think my Mums' was slightly stale bread, cold tea, sugar, dried fruit, mixedspice, and Trex.

I could be totally wrong, but whatever it was she sloshed in the mixing bowl it was fab.

My lot wont eat that sort of thing, but I have a friend who makes it, and give me a slab.

[not as good as Mums though!]

HI Sharron

Thank You for the recipe :-D

It does sound very similar to my Mums.

Suex :-D

Mine is not as good as my mother made but it is getting better.

What I do is to soak the bread and dried fruit together overnight. Squeeze it out if necessary. Mix it with the sugar, a big shake of mixed spice, some fat, today it was some of that liquid Flora that has been in the fridge for ages because I thought I would see what it was like once and four eggs.

Into tins, foil over the top and into a lowish oven for a good part of your life.

I don't think you can measure ingredients for bread pudding but I am very much a chucker and dolloper anyway.

To my mind cooking is about making what you have taste as good as possible and not be wasted and bread pudding does all of these magnificently.

My Mum made the best bread pudding.

No measuring just chucked all the ingredients in together. It was luvverly.

Wouldn't mind a piece of yours if some is in the offing, please!

:-) :-)
