In which I see the peril of not being observant

August is a difficult for me, car tax, car insurance, MOT and service, not to mention the forthcoming electricity bill.

I try to organize my other bigger bills to fall in other months and I really do know what I am doing with regard to cars.

So, why didn't I think to have a little shufty at my tyres last month? That way the car would not have failed the Mot because both the tyres were down to the wire at the front and cost me an extra £130 on the bill. And I can get them cheaper from somewhere else.

that's tough Sharron - tyres should not cost that much - I wouldn't be going back to that place for your MOT again

£65 each is not too bad I thought.

They put on £10 because they are not a charity and they are pretty good to us throughout the year.

I am not dissatisfied with the price but I am kicking myself for not seeing the tyres needed replacing last month when I didn't have as many bills.

Sharron it just cost us more than that for 1 tyre when OH had a non repairable puncture last week. I won´t say what it will cost us to buy a spare to carry instead of the little inflatable useless kit they provide.

I can see why you are kicking yourself mind as you say you could have got the tyres cheaper and in a different month/ quarter. have you thought to move one of your car bills over to another month Can you still tax for only 6mths ?

That doesn't matter, the tax is free.

I will get through it but I will learn to look at my tyres too.

A lesson learnt by you and shared so that others don´t make the same mistake.

Hi Sharron, you were lucky you didn't get stopped, in the UK a lot of people
don't realise that it can be a £2500 fine for one faulty tyre, or 10 Thousand if
all the tyres are faulty. that could be a lot more than you paid for the car itself.

Frederick, I know. Don't you think my shins are sore enough from the kicking I am giving them.
