I have watched 'Brighton Rock' quite a few times.

I tend to think that Richard Attenborough's portrayal of 'Pinky' the first time I watched it was quite convincing but when it turned out he was just conning that poor besotted young girl my opinion changed because I knew he was a liar. :-(

Maybe it was good acting on his part because he was playing a man that made it up as he went along trying to be something he was not.

It always makes me shed a tear at the end of the film when his 'girlfriend' plays that record saying ' I love you, I love you, I love you......................... :-\

I think when we watch old films we forget that they didn't have the technology they have today and so much relied on their actual acting, while these days all the effects can hide a multitude of sins. But I know what you mean Dizzi.
