Dear All

Hello

Hope you are okay.

Around this time, it was the celebration of the grain harvest, so important to life for our ancestors.

After the grain crops of wheat, rye, barley, and oats were gathered in,
people celebrated outside. It was an extended family celebration.

Debts were paid off and officals elected in villages.

Central to this festival was the making of bread to be presented and blessed.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, Lammas has largely been forgotten.

The month of August is now seen as a peak holiday time, the costal shores are teeming with wildlife and there is a winding down of the fast pace of life.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Try and make some time for yourself and allow a little of the goodness of nature into your life.

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth, EOS

We have a Lammas Lane in our village, it's among wheat and barley fields. :-)

My gt grandfathers middle name was Lammas - he was born in August but don't think the family had any thing to do with working on the land and bringing in the harvest!
