Hello Dizzi. I saw a programme on tv a while ago now . it was about people with sleeping problems, some were very severe and they were unable to function properly during he day. They were all attending a " sleep clinic" and were given different sleep programmes depending on their specific needs. I can't remember all of the finer details, but the one that sticks in my mind was a lady who had not slept properly for years. They told her she had to start over again to reorganise her sleep patterns, by eating earlier in the evening, no food or drink after eight o'clock, no food, snacks or drinks, no radio, tv, books computers, newspapers in the bedroom. They told her to stay up until she was so tired, and not to go to bed before 1.00 am, then make sure room was in darkness, not too hot/cold and the bed was comfortable. Get had to get into bed and she would sleep. The first night it did not work, but the next night she slept through until morning, and then continued to sleep properly. They showed the lady at the end of the programme and she was like a different person to the one at the beginning. Unfortunately, I can't remember if she was on any medication. |
