A few years ago some friends of ours took her mother to south coast for holiday..All went well for 1st 3 days...4th day mother not well so found Dr in town who said to rest and gave her some anti-biotics...They popped into town for some shopping and when they got back mother had passed away...Locked up and hitched up and went into town to Dr they saw before...Told to report it to police and where undertaker was..Left van in surgery car park and did as told...Got back to car park to find no van...Lady in surgery said she saw 2 men hitching up and driving off with it but did nothing...The police later found the van at the Severn Bridge Toll ready to go into Wales...They said the men were surprised when told what was in it...Mother eventually laid to rest peacefully...We all still have a laugh about it...LES...

Just goes to show we can find humour even at the darkest times....

I was brought up in a family I was the only child, so was always with older and elderly relatives and death was something we all talked about, sometimes with a little sadness but more often with great howls of laughter.

Maybe that is why today I am still puzzled by others reactions to something which is inevibatable.

G/Aunt was a Nurse with the St. Johns Ambulance Brigade and she could have a whole room wetting themselves with laughter with some of the stories she told.

My fabourite one was, whilst working in a hospital an elderly patient died overnight, so they packed all his stuff up and it went to the mortuary with the body. They even put his teeth in as they knew his family would want to view. Later in the morning when getting the other patients ready for the day one old man complained that his false teeth were missing, Yes they had put his teeth in the dead man, so a young nurse was sent to the mortuary to get the teeth back. She showed them to the man to confirm that they were his, his snatched them from her hand and promptly put them back in his mouth, no one had the heart to tell him where they had been found or that they had not been washed...... :-D :-D
