I think we should be protecting the under-10s!


Every kid under the age of 16 has probably heard everything, and more!

Under 10s.... yes

Would a child of that age be interested in tracing their family tree?

doubt it


Thye might want to hear the smutty stories though!


Can still remember the boys telling smutty stories in the playground in primary school ............. which means under age 11

Smutty stories seem to obsess 11 and 12 year olds, fortunately most people grow out of that phase. Although some older comedians still seem to suffer from arrested development.

I'm glad our son is grown up it's a nightmare for parents of young children these days.

When I first started posting on this site, there used to be a young lad who was at college he was about 16/17 I think. I used to think why does he spend so much time on this site and going to meets with older maturer mostly women? That was after I was told his age. As he was very popular and joined in with everyone else, there was no watching our P's & Q's because of him. We treated him like an adult because he didnt act like a child.

He was a real character, wasn't he, Hayley?

I'm fine, Hayley, very busy with work stuff. Thanks for worrying.

Computer time has been spent writing a script and now I'm doing the blocking on bits of squared paper - who goes on and off, where - and wearing and carrying what. It's tedious but it makes rehearsals a lot easier once it's done.

Off on hols again soon and I want most of it done before we go. 'imself is never impressed when he sees me loading work stuff into the car when we go.

I can remember a few young posters over the years. In fact, I think one got reported to GR because of the questions they were asking and regular posters were concerned about the way it was going.


I agree with Guinevere - it's a nightmare for parents these days.


My teenage grandchildren have come through the smutty joke stage fairly unscathed I hope. We've always had a very open relationship with them and once they realised they couldn't shock us - they moved on :-D

Cynthia, my grandchildren are mostly through the smutty stage as well although the 2 youngest still have there moments of trying to shock Granny but having known my OH for 46 yrs I am fairly unshockable ( he still has moments of school boy humour)

I'm fairly unshockable too, but have to admit to not liking many of today's 'comedians' and echo Guinevere's thoughts on them. Shame really, so many of them could be quite hilarious but seem to think that they have to go OTT to get a reaction from the audience.

It makes me wonder, that if so many audiences find that sort of humour acceptable, are they really concerned with what their children watch? Double standards spring to mind. :-S

I once attended a Sportsman Dinner which, unusually, was open to women. The comedian said at the beginning that he had had to severely change his act and was worried that it was going to be a flop as he was leaving out so many (obviously smutty) jokes. At the end, he admitted that he had had the best reception for ages and that he was considering permanently changing his act. You don't have to be
smutty to be funny.

Minor's under the age of 16 are permitted to use this site just so long as it is under the supervision and permission of a parent, guardian or teacher.

How would anyone know whether they had permission or not?... not sure any young person would want to willingly pay to use this site although if they had their own bank card they could. There is also nothing stopping an under 16 year old opening as a free member and reading the boards.

When my daughter was 13 she wanted an ipod for Christmas....I had no idea what it was ....just thought it was some thing to store music on....I bought her one anyway. If she was accessing anything she should not of , don't suppose it was anything she hadn't already heard from her 18 year old sister :-D
