The neighbour's dogs don't like her either. They don't do anything, not even bark.

They sit when she appears, and stare at her. I just have to go outside and they're all over me, looking for cuddles. The big male dog thinks he's my protector. If a strange male person appears, the dog gets between me and the stranger! I don't think he'd ever do anything, but it's nice to know he's there. I forgot to say, the dogs are Staffies, big softies!

She's always asking the other neighbour to do things, and he's got enough to do. His wife has been ill for years with kidney problems, and she had a kidney transplant 6 months ago. That's the neighbour who cuts her lawn..... I wonder if she's ever asked him how his wife is?

Selfish woman, shows how horrible she is when she is more worried about finding some other mug to help her than wish your man well. Maybe the other neighbours will realise at some point and leave her to it.

I do hope your hubby will be home soon so you can feed him up, but good luck with stopping him from doing what he shouldn't. My father was one like that, he wasn't supposed to be climbing about buy Mum came back from shopping one day to find him in the kitchen sitting on a towel - he had fallen off the ladder he had put against the apple tree........ right on to a piece of glass from the greenhouse! Nasty cut on his rear end that he couldn't really reach to do much with. My Mum really read the riot act to him, it wasn't long before the incident that he had had a heart attack! Men!

As I've said, our friends & neighbours have been wonderful, all very concerned about Himself, and offers of help have been overwhelming.

Until ten minutes ago :-(

Her across the road! I've never really liked her, I think she's a user. She's conned neighbours into helping her with everything. She pleads poverty, but she owns her home, and has three or four other houses that she rents to people!

She rang our door bell......... before I could say anything, she asked if Himself was home, because she needed something done......... I didn't let her rattle on, told her he was in hospital. Oh, what am I going to do? I was stunned. Well, he's very sick with pneumonia & pleuresy. She then said... I know what that's like, I've just got over the worst flu ever. I let her have it! I don't think you can compare your flu with his pneumonia & pleuresy, he's doped up to the eyeballs with morphine and is in hospital!

She just looked at me. Walked off, saying I'll have to ask somebody else!!!

Our two immediate neighbours have been good to her, so has OH. One neighbour has cottoned on, and avoids her, the other mows her lawn, without as much as a cup of tea, forget being thanked for it. She just assumes everybody wants to do things for her.

Not any more! When Himself comes home I will be laying down the law. She can find somebody to do her "odd jobs" and pay them. She can afford it.

Selfish, thoughtless........ I won't say what I'm really thinking.

'phoned Himself earlier.

He sounded happier, but very tired. Still coughing!

We couldn't talk for too long, because the nurse came in to unplug the antibiotic drip thingie, and I thought he'd be better off going to sleep.

I'm hoping he will see the specialist tomorrow or Sunday morning, to get the all clear to come home.

He said the hospital food is not so good (remember the line from Crocodile Dundee?.... You can live on it, but it tastes like ****). He's pretty good with the nosebag (so am I)..... he can't wait to get home and have a decent feed.

almost 9pm here....... I'm going to bed! With a drink, a couple of chocolate biscuits and a book. Forget the diet.

Glad to hear your OH is doing better.
You are lucky to have good neighbours.
Exactly 13yrs ago, days before his 41st birthday, my OH had a major heart attack.

All of my neighbours were fantastic.. They looked after our children, kept them overnight, they cut the grass and tidied the garden.
They offered to do the ironing! ( i used an ironing service)

A huge cabin bed was delivered for our youngest daughter's bedroom.... on that same day, our neighbours arrived, screwdrivers in hand and built it for her!

I'm sitting here watching the clock slowly move!

I'm waiting until 6pm to phone Himself. He should have been back in his room at 5pm, but I'm giving time for the staff to do what they have to do.

Shopping was...... interesting......... I kept meeting people who know us, all asking "where's the Big Fella?". All very shocked to hear how sick he is, I have to pass good wishes on to him from half the town. I'm glad I made a list (and remembered to take it with me) or I would have been distracted & come home without things.

I was so distracted yesterday by telephone calls I forgot some things I wanted to take to OH! Half way through finding stuff, the phone would ring. I've found them all over the place today...... underwear in the spare room, his talc in my bathroom, a comb in the kitchen.... the list goes on. I've got all those things (and more) in a bag in the kitchen. Hopefully he will be coming home and won't need them.

I meant to go to the hardware shop for the rope, but I forgot. That's the rope I'm going to tie him up with when he gets home, so that he can't get out and do "stuff".

Half an hour to go.

What great neighbours you have When my OH had a heart attack I cut our grass ..neighbour came out with his mower saw me and ran inside and didn't come out till I was finished ..I just knew he would do that :-D

How lovely that you have such support Scozz, hope you get/got the shopping done and managed to talk to your hubby, and find him on the mend.

Neighbour just cut our front lawn. Lovely man.

'phone call from a friend (we go to the same computer class, and we're in the garden club), she's going out for lunch, then taking me to the shops.

I'm making a list of what we need, and what Himself will like... and I'm NOT buying any beer!

I've been answering the 'phone all morning (it's almost 11.45am), so I haven't had much "me" time....... I'm going to shut myself in the bathroom, then get dressed!

People are wonderful.

I talked to Himself last night, he sounded a bit more chipper.

Talked to him this morning, he sounded tired.... he'd been awake most of the night, coughing. He's bored & fed up, but knows he's in the right place.

He was given a slice of toast & a cuppa at 6 this morning, the cut-off point for food, as he'll be getting an anasthetic at about 2pm. All he can think about is what they're giving him for dinner afterwards!

Friends 'phoned last night, want to take me out tonight. I thanked them, but I'd rather stay home. I want to 'phone Himself, probably at 6pm, give him time to get settled, and I wouldn't be much fun out with anybody. I know they mean well, but..... :-)

Last night........ didn't need a glass of port... I was asleep by 10pm and slept until 7.15 this morning.

Scozz.....wow you must be exhausted, but bet your pleased to have got to the bottom (bottom...lol) of this and now know whats going on??

Neighbours generally pull together and help out, l know ours would in similar situation....as you would l'm sure for them:)

Keep your chin up and throw the odd tennis ball at the walls and pretend its a nurse and not the wall:))

Scozz that is a relief to you to know he is in good caring hands. I hope they can now sort out treatment that will put him back on the road to recovery. Meanwhile look after you so that he doesn't have to worry about you. <3

Hello Scozz I am so pleased OH is improving and the new hospital is treating him (and you) better. You have had such an awful time recently just keep your chin up, lots of people care about you.
