What Fred and his mate get up to when they are out is of no consequence to me. They are in charge of themselves at that time. They know what busses to catch and when they run and I don't. Nor, indeed, do I want to!

Fred says he can't see properly and it is getting worse, I think his other cataract is deteriorating fast, so I have suggested he should go to the optician again.

If you drop in they can usually fit in an eye test so I suggested they should go into town and do that.

Now, Fred has rarely been known to make a decision, ever. It is far more satisfying to find fault with somebody elses.

So, rather than go in and pick up an appointment. he needs me to book him one. He will not suggest a time for this and his mate says it is up to me.

Not knowing bus times, journey time, how long it takes them to get to the bus to the optician (bearing in mind there is little likelihood of them having to stop for any horse dung on the way), I need to ring the optician and book an appointment ( at quite the wrong time for Fred, he hopes!).
