I think he was in Petworth Cottage Hospital for a while before he died.

I am just mentally comparing Busy Bee to Paint It Black.

Just googled Arthur Askey - 1900-1982 and was working up to shortly before his death!

Sharron

Sharron Report 26 Jul 2013 11:12

Older than Billy Cotton.

Yes, he was extraordinary. I used to listen to "Letter From America" every week.

I would never have thought to compare him to Mick Jagger either.

Alistair Cooke ( not the cricketer ) 1908 - 2004 presented the BBC's "Letter from America" radio programme for nearly sixty years, retiring only shortly before his death.

A giant of the media compared to today's pygmies.

Now there is one I would never have thought to compare to Mick Jagger!

He topped himself at 52.

Arthur Askey? I couldn't stand him and if I had found that busy bee I know where I would have put it. He was still prancing around in his seventies.

I think I was thinking about just how old the Stones are and was searching about in my head for somebody who used to be the same age.

Hitler, of course, was much younger when he died so he was no use.

Can you think of somebody to compare to Mick Jagger?

gawd........ I remember my parents liking Billy Cotton.

I remember the name, but none of the music.

Must go to Googleland or YouTube & have a look.

I'm intrigued, Sharon - whatever made you think of Billy Cotton?

He looked older than Mick. Mind you, I think people back then looked old at 40!!

When I was little, I thought your hair 'naturally' turned curly as you got older. Now I know it's a lie!!!! :-|
