Rambling

Rambling Report 21 Jul 2013 14:45

I was woken yesterday by the sounds of someone shouting through a microphone (I thought) via an amplifier, that was followed by the football chant which goes 'Oh lay, oh lay oh lay' ad infinutum. I assumed it was some event taking place at the football field or town park. so with a sigh of resignation that it "will be today only" I got up and shut the windows and indeed it did stop later on but.....

I have just seen a boy pass by on his scooter, holding a white megaphone, and shouting through it, to be closely followed by the evidently 'in built' 'Oh lay' chant...I assume it runs on batteries..... :-| anyone got any ear plugs I can borrow for six weeks?

As a present from a Spanish holiday,we bought our grandsons a clockwork chimpanzee (dressed in their team colours) and when switched on it played that song. The boys just loved it but strangely after a while their parents asked us to keep it at our house for when they came to stay ;-) :-D :-D

Six weeks, Rose. Ono, ono, ono!!!!!! :-( :-(

Two sounds that seem to follow me everywhere are:
1. Ice cream vans. Usually "I do like to be beside the seaside" when vans are at least 30 miles from coast.
2. Scrap metal lorries. With the passenger shouting out through a megaphone so he can be heard more than a mile away. It does sound remarkably like a mosque call to prayer to my uneducated ears - and I write that knowing I will be reported and poor Genes will have to decide if I being abusive to Muslims tomorrow morning.

But have only had one report this weekend and feeling quite unloved. :-(
