RAF crew shot down in WWII buried in Italian war cemetery

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23344399

The crew of an RAF Boston bomber have been buried in a war cemetery in Italy, 68 years after their deaths.

As a serious researcher this kind of story really catches the heart strings.

Can empathise with the emotions of the family at this time

WW11 - My mother had an American pilot fiancée - was told that after being shot down by the Germans he nose-dived his plane into the ground to save the people living on Canvey Island. The only thing they found of him out of the fire was his ID tag. As a child, sort of scared me thinking about it.

When I actually visited the Island 3 years ago with my AUS cousin we found there was a special museum about the event.
Choked - I found it hard to hold back the tears seeing his actual photo and reading the story.

:-) :-)

It is nice to see that at long last they have been laid to rest albeit on foreign soil and I hope that this will help to bring some comfort and closure to any living relatives they have.

R.I.P.

What a lovely but sad story and lovely that there were relatives that could be there for the funeral and very touching that they were buried together....RIP
