I think we are forever renovating if we are not doing something here it will be something at a rental property.

One rental has just had underfloor insulation and another is now to get new kitchen cupboards and a front fence.

We are redoing our bedroom so there is nothing in it... all stuffed in another room. Just removed carpet which had linoleum underneath and that was backed with asbestos so we were plasticated off and had the professionals remove that. Now I have stripped horrible painted wallpaper that was lumpy as with the corners that were all wrinkly. Fortunately it came off easily but some of the walls had another layer of painted wallpaper underneath that and it was more difficult to remove without damaging the plaster board (we call it gib board) underneath and whoever plastered it originally left lumps of plaster unsanded .. quite a very good example on how not to do things.

Cyns did you ever get curtains for your room and stop undressing in the dark?

Or Sue you could add a plain contrasting/blending band to the bottom of curtain. They are sold like that.

I bet it does - lucky you, were you not exhausted doing all that today? But worth it :-D

Good idea Liz, as they are large windows, and would cost a fair bit. :-)

Sue, you could always shorten the shrunken curtains to make them fit to the window sill, would be cheaper than buying new ones.

Yes Nolls, new curtains. :-) T hey shouldn't have shrunk, as washed per instructions at 40 degrees. You have much more energy than i have in this weather. :-D Still at least it wont be raining when you have your new windows, which is the worst thing that could happen.!

Oh Ann please don't say anymore we are getting 4 new windows in on Thurs so already washed 3 prs curtains so they can go back clean but today took down roller blind and washed it (sort of) now on washing line just drying then slatted? blinds 2 prs and washed them in bath and now drying washed curtains this morning from spare room and drying on line (got to iron - d*m) then like you empty b/rooms all will go in bathroom so no one better need to go :-D Then all to go back again wonder if b/room needs painting hmm! dare I ask you know who ....better not ;-). Hope you get a good nights sleep! :-D Bet the b/r looks great when you have finished.
Sue a nice new pair of curtains I would think! trying to get my blinds to disintegrate just living in hope. ;-)

Could be i'll be doing same thing. Last week, as weather was so good, washed four large curtains from bay window. After they were dry, OH said, ive some bad news for you, the curtains have shrunk.!!
So its either curtains at half mast, or get some new ones.!

Been there too......we ended up with a completely new kitchen a couple of years ago because I needed a new fridge/freezer :-D

Oh yes! Know that scenario only too well. Mind you, it does give you the opportunity to have a clear out at the same time I've always found.

Yes, funny how a little "freshening up" idea snowballs, and suddenly the whole place has to be redecorated to match the original idea! I know the feeling! :-D :-D

A couple of weeks ago we bought new curtains and a new valance for our bedroom, these to match the new duvet cover we bought a month ago. sort of shades of raspberry.

So now we (royal we) are painting two walls in our bedroom. behind the headboard and over the dressing table which is a long built in one, both in sail white. Needed to get rid of the yellow wall behind the bed as it wouldn't go with the new curtains, and then decided to freshen up the other white wall.

I know it is only two walls but to do them we had to clear the bedside tables and shelves, and clear the dressing table, take the drawers out of the bed and split the bed because it is too heavy to move whole. that meant taking the mattress off etc. So now you can't see either the spare room or our room. Hopefully this weather it will dry quickly and we can get it all back or we will be sleeping on the floor tonight!!! :-D :-D
