We had storage heaters years ago couldn't wait to get rid of them - a waste of money but perhaps better now. What about fire central heating?? My SIL had that and the house was lovely and warm she burnt wood so wasn't too dear could stock up in the summer ..... But it was a bit of a nuisance having to make the fire every day though! |

Jude - I think the electric storage heaters have improved considerably in the last few years - but still not ideal. |

If you opt for oil you could also have an oil fired Aga! |

Always disliked storage radiators, until earlier this year. Elderly and un-mobile SIL has them and they were a godsend when their power was off for a day during a very cold period - gas and oil central heating (and even some gas fires) need electricity to work but their storage heaters kept them warm all day. |

I believe storage heaters have improved, but I wouldn't personally want them. |

I wonder if there are any grants available with all this 'green' thinking? |

Jude electric heating is very expensive and it may be better to install oil fired central heating. |

I was going to suggest oil Jude, although it is not cheap, and I don't know how expensive it is to run. |
