forget your pets. If going out for the day - leave the dog at home, making sure he has plenty of water and a shady spot to lie.

I used to put ice cubes in the water bowls two and three times a day and as for the ice pops that you bought in a box and then froze. Every dog we had loved them - just ask 'want a lolly' and they would appear fast although our Newfie got picky and only wanted the raspberry ones. Try to explain to a dog it is the lemon, orange, lime etc left and that is it!!

Ice cream was also a welcome treat.

Ice cubes were good for hanging baskets too.

Excellent advice - if I leave the dog at home what do I do about the shade - will the dog know that the sun moves around throughout the day?

Can I use icepops in hanging baskets as well as ice cubes and, if so, do they have to be the correct flavour. In other words can I put lemon ones in strawberry baskets or do they have to be just strawberry ones? Does it affect the final crop and taste?

Be careful of ice cream as some dogs are lactic intolerant..
Also remember to change their water often apart from the fact that they also like cold water (put ice cubes in it) there are also other creatures that will use it.

If your dog suffers from heat and will wear a bandana then make sure theirs is damp,

Always make sure that your dog won´t fret at being left in strange places ...leave them at home. It is far better to leave them 2 hrs in their home comforts than 1 hr in a hot car with strange things happening around them.

Your pet loves you, make sure you love them back <3

Uzzi - icecream was not a regular treat in hot weather.

Drinking water and other creatures using it - that is true but Monty (like all the others) had a large water bowl in the kitchen and one on the patio but he would be caught drinking regularly from the fish pond!

Errol - go on to the naughty step - remember 0ne minute for each year of age.

I have already read several pieces in the paper where dogs have died in locked cars in this weather.

Mindless idiots.

Hello All

Dear Mr Errol, you are really a naughty little sheep! :-D

Dear Uzzi, lovely words about our animal friends. <3

Our saucepan lids (kids!) keep budgies, so twice a day they are
gently sprayed with water. They love it as they can preen their feathers.

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth, EOS
