Hi Ann,

I tried to set the message on ' Find Ancestors', but was unable to find the place where I could do so. I will have another go after I have watched ' THE MATCH' this morning.

I have also run into a similar problem on my Mothers CORBY line. We have got back as far as Charles Corby and we have his marriage to Sarah Brown in St Michaels's Church, Coventry on 8 Oct 1793, his death in 1826, and his children, but we cannot find his place or date of birth. The problem with this has ben that many of the P arish records were lost in the bombing of Coventry in november 1940. Indeed, one of the records we have the top part of the sheet is burned away.

I really appreciate your advice, and even though I have used the Chat room rather than the Find Ancestors section, I have had two new leads, so if I can set out the requests for help correctly, who knows, I may yet crack the two problems I have.

Once again, many thanks

Graham

can I say Graham, this might be better posted on Find Ancestors rather than on Chat - in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter, but people who do searches on Find Ancestors sometimes don't come over to the Chat board and you might get a better response on there

If you do decide to post there instead, best you delete this posting or it might end up having postings done on both which would get a tad confusing

You decide anyway

Many thanks for the offers of help.
This could be the burial record of 'my' Benjamin as it fits in wit the dates of birth of his children, and his marriage to Mary Jenkins in St Mary's Church, Brecon on 3 November 1805.
However, I have tried www.familysearch.org and they have no records of any Benjamin Powell's birth for 1780 to 1786.
Best wishes
Graham

Hi, I have run into a brick wall and don't know how to get back any further. I have Benjamin Powell married to Mary Edwards, and three of their children, John 1808, Benjamin b. July 1811 in Brecon town, and William 1816. I have my Great, Great Grandfather Benjamin 1811, died on 4 Nov 1892 in Newport, Mon, S. Wales, married to Elizabeth Jenkins, b Llandovery 1811, d 1871. In the 1841 Census Benjamin is working as a Boatman on the Brecon to Newport canal, and his children were born anywhere between these two points.
I have been unable to find the place or date of birth of Benjamin 1811 parents Benjamin Powell and Mary Edwards, and would be eternally grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction how to trace them.
