I have just had a mini pamper session, which started me thinking about some old alternative beauty tips.

Cucumber to reduce puffy eyes and wrinkles
Mayonnaise mask for hair conditioning
Oil mixed with vinegar for sun lotion.

One I have heard about but never tried Preparation H for wrinkles and puffy eyes.

I imagine you will have some to share .

Honey ~ Good for just about everything, especially rashes......... leave it on for a while, don't move around too much or you'll stick to everything!

Olive oil ~ wonderful for hard skin (especially feet!)...... massage your feet, put on an OLD pair of socks....... go to bed, and wash it off in the morning.

Prep H is good for puffy eyes. If you watch boxing........ and a boxer has been hit around the eyes, that's what the trainer is using.

Nappy Rash ~ cornflour! Better than anything you'll get at the chemist.

Cheap 'alternative' cleanser, especially for those with allergies is Aqueous cream

For attractive lips: Speak words of kindness.

For lovely Eyes: Seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure: Share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair: Let a child run his fingers through it once a day.

For poise: Walk with knowledge, you will not walk alone.

Mother each time she cracked an egg used to run her finger around the inside of the shell and pat it on under her eyes.

Egg white brilliant for nappy rash - District nurse told me that 50 odd years ago and it worked. Son had such strong urine - he had a rash in the morning - the egg white sorted that out.

Before putting on last nappy at night on went the egg white - forms a barrier.

Dear Paula

Hello

I use a small amount of caster sugar mixed with egg white as an
exfoliator.

Try using a very ripe apricot and gently smoothing on your face and neck.
The washing off with lukewarm water.

Pure vitamin A available!

Take gentle care
Best wishes
Elizabeth, EOS

W@itr@se own make, Baby Bottom Butter.

Made from olive oil. Use on elbows, knees, shins, feet, hands [then put on cotton gloves] also for face, but a bit greasy. Only about £2.50.

Clean hands after gardening if you forgot your gloves, with a spoonful of margarine or oil mixed with granulated sugar and work into hands and around nails, gets all the muck and soil off . After rinsing in warm water pat dry and your hands will feel lovely and soft.

Rub warmed olive or veg oil into your hair if it's dry and strawlike, wrap clingfilm round your head and cover with a towel, leave for at least an hour then wash off, but don't put water on your head, rub shampoo into oiled hair and then rinse off with warm water.

Same applies if you use an egg on your hair, don't use hot water or you will end up with a head full of scrambled egg

is that where the expression "egghead" came from? :-D

Does anyone know the process with bicarbonate of soda for getting styling products out of hair? If you use mousse/gel this is supposed to work, as they build up after a while.

I think it's a couple of teaspoons of bicarb in warm water, & tip it over your head.

I have to use products on my hair, or my curls (mad!) would be a frizzy bush.

:-(

Just looking on line for a product I have used, it's Tea tree but can't remember the make. Apparently there is a Deep Cleansing shampoo by Tresemme.

I don't know about the bicarb,
