Cameron is merely the leader of the government. It doesn't mean he can actually make the decisions.

Because it's dealt with by a separate body.

Precisely.

Same as most County Council leaders.
We've been on a pay freeze (after having a pay cut) for 4 years.
Head of our Council's pay went up in April from £200,000 to £245,000.
Of course, he didn't have to accept it, but, obviously struggling on his pay, he did :-P

The body that was set up after we all became incensed by the expenses scandal - guess it swings both ways.

Alas we don't have much of a say in all this do we?

Much as I despise Mr. Cameron he has looked into stopping this but he can do nothing to halt this SUGGESTED pay rise.

If we're all in this together, does that we're all going to get big pay rises? :-D

McB

McB Report 1 Jul 2013 20:46

Hope so Graham, haven't had a rise in the last five years in fact I'm on way less than i was five years ago, that's to try & keep my business afloat.

Thing is it wouldn't matter if the MP's were on £200.000 a year they would still want more, a good deal of them have fingers in other pies.

Truth & honesty - both sadly lacking in MPs if we are to believe everything published about them.

Poverty & wealth can coexist in a profoundly hierarchical society.

I think, we may, if we're lucky bunnies and keep our noses clean, get 1% this year :-P

1% of virtually nothing is................

Although I have a higher wage than I did 11 years ago (but smaller than 5 years ago), my take-home pay is about the same :-(

'The Curse of Cameron'.

Legally, they appear to be entitled to this pay increase.

But I felt exactly like the audience on Question Time last night. They do not deserve it. It is still far too soon after they let the country down in the expenses debacle - and so few have been brought to task for stealing and fraud yet.

Only if they can find a way to reduce these ridiculous expenses and the number of MPs should any increase be contemplated. If they are awarded 10%, then make sure number of MPs are reduced by 10%.

And I do think all public servants should be paid a %age of Prime Ministers remuneration. The CEO of Caerphilly County Borough should not be able to be awarded an income above David Cameron's. Nor the CEO of BBC, etc.
