It's actually very important to keep bird feeders etc clean.

I found this:

Bacteria and fungal spores can quickly build on up bird feeders, baths and tables, which can spread infections among garden birds. Clean your feeders regularly to minimise the risk of infection, and move your bird table around the garden to prevent a build up of disease in any one area.

How to do it
Wearing rubber gloves, empty the feeder of its contents and dispose of them in a bin. Don't reuse the food or compost it, as it could be harbouring harmful bacteria.

Fill a bucket with hot, soapy water. Thoroughly clean the feeder with a brush, scrubbing off any residual food and droppings.

Rinse with cold water, preferably under an outside tap. Leave the feeder to stand, allowing it to dry completely.

Finally, spray the feeder with a veterinary disinfectant, which should kill any remaining infectious agents. Rinse the feeder again and allow to dry completely, before refilling.

I bought a new indoor loo for our cat . she is 16 and had some overnight mishaps so we thought we needed a tray for her.

The one we bought got so smelly from her wee that no amount of cleaning and disinfecting got rid of the smell. was very off putting.

We have the loo on the bottom stair landing cos thats where she had her accidents .

I bought an Omega Paw self cleaning loo about a month ago , it works a treat but was getting a bit whiffy too so on Saturday I dismantled it threw out all the litter . washed it out with bathroom cleaner and refilled it with fresh clumping litter .

Yesterday morning she got me up as usual at 6am . I came downstairs only to see wee outside the loo. Seems she went in .didnt turn around lifted her tail and wee,d so it went outside the box,

Maybe she didnt like the clean smell .


She has been a good girl today though and done her ablutions in the box

Is there a good way to make fat balls??

I know what some of you are thinking :-| I mean the ones birds eat :-D :-D

LOL,ITS MY BIRD FEEDERS BUT HE WONT LET THEM EAT OUT OF DIRTY FEEDERS

My husband loves his bird table, he is out there twice a day making it all neat and tidy, the birdbath is scrubbed every day.

Do they appreciate it?

No.......within minutes the starlings have trashed it, the sparrows are on the ground hovering bits up then the doves and pigeon (just the one) scour the lawn and paving slabs for anything left over.

OH HAS JUST WASHED THE BIRD FEEDERS,
AND SWEPT THE DROPPED SEEDS OFF THE SLABS
SO ITS CLEAN AND TIDY FOR THE BIRDS
NOW SOON HE WILL BE PUTTING OUT
A TABLECLOTH AND KNIFE AND FORK.

OMG I DO HOPE THEY DON'T ASK FOR A MENU
I THREW THE SEED WRAPPER AWAY AS FOR
THE SUET CAKE,,FRUIT IS FRUIT
