Bits of left-over cheese and cheese rinds get grated up and put in freezer. They go on top of shepherd's pie, in sauce, in scones.

Potato peelings are lovely fried and they will go in soup.

Left-over cat food in OH's sandwiches!

Milk that has gone sour makes scones and soda bread.

Bits of biscuit in the bottom of the tin go in a freezer cake.

Big leaves off cabbage, shredded up and fried are what you might be served as fried seaweed in a Chinese restaurant.

Bread and butter pudding and bread pudding with left-over bread.

Little bits of soap are collected and grated, mixed to a stiff paste with a bit of boiling water and set in a patty tin. They last for ages as a new bar of soap.

DJ Danny Baker's wife said the best thing to do with left overs was to put them in the bin!!!!

It is odd how some of us would hate to waste and food. Then you get others for whom saving and using leftovers is not something they would consider for several reasons. 1 is reminder of their poor days growing up 2 just cannot be bothered

Luckily there are only the two of us and all our food is planned for the week ahead.

Like Barney we both love our day after roast dinner dinner. In fact we cook enough to ensure that we have a great fry up meal and cold cuts the next day mmmmmm

Any leftovers, specially veg (and fruit) whisked into a sort of egg & bit of milk, a sort of scrambled egg or omelette done in three minutes in the microwave, very nourishing quick snack light meal

Without any doubt, the best meal over, (dare I say it), Christmas, is on Boxing Day.

Cold turkey, beef and ham, pickles, crusty bread and:
Bubble and Squeak made from the leftover potatoes and sprouts.
All washed down with a good bottle of Chablis wine.

I enjoy it better than the Christmas meal itself.

Before we use any citrus fruit I try and grate the zest and freeze it for puddings/cakes

Since getting a new breadmaker, we often have an excess of bread (daren't eat it all!). I freeze some slices, of course, but also make croutons and breadcrumbs for gratins or coating fishcakes and rissoles.

I hate waste so do try to find ways of recycling left overs/failures into edible dishes.

My thread about my overcooked sponge cakes made me wonder if any members had good ones of their own.
