oh and in many cultures the women are actively encouraged/forced not to learn English so that their men can continue to keep them reliant on them

Which isolates them from help and making new friends in the UK. And that is more shameful to me.

Thatr is because many of them are taught English in school....

We should not really complain, how many of us go abroad, do not bother to learn even the most basic words of please and thankyou in the language. No we just shout at them...... And woe betide eating that foreign muck....

We are probably just as bad as those we complain about.
