WE'D SIT ON THE DOORSTEP AND
YOU'D BRUSH YOUR HAND OVER IT THE SMELL
WAS HEAVENLY NO AIR FRESHNER SPRAY

As I slowly weed round plants in my front boarder I remember my sweet Mother in Law, who gave me many seeds, cuttings and bulbs from her own flower garden, some originating from the garden of her childhood. The green and white Solomon's Seal, tall Irises that my children called Caterpillar Flowers (because the beard looks just like one) & the heart shaped Tottle Grass which has seeded its way round the whole garden.

My mother planted Stocks & the night scented ones, in a boarder under the back living room window ever year, where their scent wafted in.

Smells bring back a whole lot of memories, Sprigs of Lavender & Mint on my Nan's windowsills to keep the flies out.

Today I remembered the pot my mum gave me several years ago, it is black with a clay pot liner.
It had sat in our bedroom, a holder of 'bits', buttons, curtain hooks and all many of other small things that may be needed some day.
It is now in the centre of my kitchen windowsill, planted with a Euphorbia milii (crown of thorns, Christ plant, Christ thorn) given to me by my sons partner.

Bin that stinking curry plant :-D <3
