It isn't grooming as such but it is well known as a pest number - just use TPS

There are a lot of people receiving these calls, see the above link.

One person thinks they have traced the number to part of Coventry University.

I hope the police can track them down, as you say it definitely isn't right.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 24 Jun 2013 19:12

not right at all!!!!

The problem is, many people give their number out and it gets passed on because they don't tick the box that says "do not pass my number on to third parties"

The other problem is that a lot of these calls are made because they use software that randomly generates numbers.

Just tell them you are with TPS and hang up.

If you have caller ID then do not answer in the first place - answering the call just confirms that your number is valid and live.

errolsheep My son has his fathers name and my grandfathers !!!! so double barreled so we think we know who has passed it on as this company questioned why he book in under one surname and checked out on a double barreled name

I will be ringing them tomorrow aswel ....

My daughters questioning began when she said there is no person of that name here as he asked for a female by my sons !!! doubled barreled surname!!!

shocking :-(

Graham

Graham Report 24 Jun 2013 21:04

I tried tracing the number. All I could find out was that it is registered to a market research company in Coventry. There have been loads of complaints over the past 2 or 3 weeks. Most of the complaints are about the caller persistently phoning the same person over & over again.

KempinaPartyhat Report 24 Jun 2013 22:19

Yes Graham ...another friend of mine did the same but it seems nothing can be done just ban the number! so we have set that in motion

Sharron when you redial it ....a answer phone says this number is not accepting calls at this time
