What on earth is going on here today?

I just came on to the site - fully paid up again since yesterday, don'cha know! - and intriguing titled thread 'Hooray' thread has everyone reported.

As I try and wade through to see what's happening it is suddenly not available.

Someone tell me what that was about. PLEASE!

Ssshheeeeshh. Gimme strength.

Hello Barry_

That was my thread.

I too see it has gone but Genes have not yet contacted me to tell me what I have done wrong.

Many thanks for your reply, NLO.

In 20 minutes 30 people read my question and no one answered. Incredible!

I am beginning to ask about the calibre of members of GR who cannot / apparently will not answer a simple question when asked.

Truly disappointing!

Barry ~ people probably couldn't respond because they didn't get to read the thread.

As soon as someone posted, it was reported!

I hope the thread is returned to the board, with ALL posts reinstated.

I'm getting fed up with GR's apparent lack of respect for members.

LadyScozz

What is worse than the removal of my own thread is the removal of JoyKentishmaids thread on Suggestions.

Still nothing from Genes - another email sent.

it was a thread that congratulated GR for erasing an offensive thread that had caused a lot of dissent through the weekend - almost as soon as it was posted it was reported - strange - but true!!! I added asking if it was the thread posted by ************************ and then posted to say "Yep, that's the one - good" all my postings got reported, along with many others that were quite inocuous - strange decison by GR in my opinion

Thank you , Scozz, NLO and Ann for your replies.

I am staggered to learn that a suggestion of Joy's has come into question. Such a positive and contributing member for years! She's the last person to be queried.

There definitely needs swift action at the helm of GR!

The RR business really needs revamping ASAP, without doubt.
Perhaps a sticky at the start of the post in question by GR that an RR has been received before the 'offending' words are removed?

This rudderless situation on the boards really cannot continue.
Strong and decisive leadership at GR is paramount.
When that might occur is anyone's guess.

Thanks again, ladies.

nameslessone, I did contact GR with my concerns about the RRing of your thread and have received a reply from GR as follows

This whole thread has now been removed now to prevent any further unpleasantness. Action will be taken against anyone reporting maliciously

So it appears GR didn't remove because of the "content" ?

Thank you Roy

This is part of the email I sent after my thread was deleted:

Whilst I am happy for it to be removed because of the way it was going your removal of this and JoyKentish Maids thread on the Suggestions board without any form of notification smacks of something unpleaseant

This was their reply about half an hour ago:

Thanks for getting in touch, and I'm sorry that you weren't notified of the removal of your thread in the usual way.

There was nothing wrong with your opening post at all, but we did feel the need to remove the whole thread to avoid any further unpleasantness.

I hope you understand our reason for this ........ and again, our apologies for the lack of notification.

slightly different to yours..

One wonders if the malicious RR'r of this morning will be chastised.

Mmmmm Methinks not!!!!

Again a case of not what you know but who you know....

nameslessone Report 24 Jun 2013 16:31

Oh Roy - I think it must be my fault - I've been RR'd again.
Kicking myself hard on the shins because I didn't keep a copy of wot I wrote.

I remember asking for Joys thread to be put back but not the rest.

AAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 24 Jun 2013 16:38

nameslessone, the only person/s to blame are the one/s doing the reporting

I think it's high time those in 'control' within GR's HQ made a statement about RRs - and recent events in particular - most of which I do not know the original content.

This reckless RR situation created by one or two individuals simply cannot be allowed to continue unabated and without punishment.

SIX OF THE BEST PLEASE, GR - and be very quick about it!

Thank you!

PS. GR folk have probably gone home after a difficult day at the office, methinks!

I complained to Estelle last night about the disgraceful thread, and this is some of what she said in her reply to me .............

I would like you to know that we are taking this matter very seriously.

I completely agree that the word [was] unacceptable for a family history website.

I have been in close contact with the customer support team this morning who deal with all reports of abuse and we will be taking further action.

I would like you to know that we treat all members in exactly the same way. [no-one receives] any special treatment from us. .............. [other] board member[s] [have] been in to help us with testing.

I am sorry if this has been spoiling ........ enjoyment of our message boards. We are doing our very best to make sure this unpleasantness stops

let's hope so!!!!!
