Nolls from Harrogate

Nolls from Harrogate Report 24 Jun 2013 06:51

For the last two years we have hardly seen any butterflies in the garden even though we have a bush that they love and which was absolutely covered in butterflies 3yrs ago we have also seen a decline in the bees and this year I have only see 3 quite frightening when they are so important to our food chain.

We have had a lot of bees on the wild rose that seeded itself and grew next to the patio door and there were dozens on the white hebe that is in flower. Only seen a cabbage white butterfly so far this year and we don't have cabbages in the garden. There is a rape field at the end of the garden, do they attract butterfiles I wonder?

I know wasps are attracted to anything yellow. Luckily haven't seen any of those yet.

Sadly just one Cabbage White butterfly:((
l thought l saw a dragonfly, but not sure...there is a pond each side of us and we have had them before, hoping to find another Elephant Hawk moth caterpillar:))
