After struggling for years with a dial up connection to the internet, because broadband hasn´t been available on Menorca at a reasonable price, I have now found a deal which offers me 20mg WIFI broadband.
I have absolutely no idea how much access this would give me to the various FH sites, downloading to my Kindle, reading newspapers & watching TV programmes, as our basic Skye access to BBC & ITV is due to be withdrawn over the next few months.
Please can someone advise me whether 20 MG is likely to be sufficient.
I won´t sue if it turns out to be wrong.....promise.

Do you not want to share it in case it is helpful to other members?

I can share the fact that Pat has 8mb & finds it more than sufficient for downloading what she uses.
Some of the info she has asked me not to disclose as it´s not exactly kosher.
I´m sure she would be happy to pm anyone else who is interested.
You may not appreciate that broadband access is not as easy in far flung corners of the Med as it is in England, but"we have ways"

I explained that we have 8 MB and can do more than Wisechild requires with that.

The other information is only relevant for those living outside the UK., will be happy to pm others who are outside UK. :-)

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 22 Jun 2013 18:45

Hi Wisechild

Here on sunny Tenerife I am paying for 10 which is the offer they gave me. It is also ridiculous as I can only get 2.5 and 10 is not available anywhere on the island. I have Movistar and I think they do get 10 from Movistar on mainland Spain.

Just be sure of what you will actually receive as what they offer and what you get aren't always the same thing

Hi Wendy.
A friend here in Menorca was contracted for 8, but said he was very lucky to get more than 2.
Think the getout is that the contract says "up to 20".
As we well know, that´s no guarentee of anything. As you say, the Quotes are for the maximum that´s available on the mainland.
I have complained bitterly that my dial-up contract is for unlimited access 24/7, but I´m lucky if I can connect for more than half a day. The stock answer is that the connection in the Balearics is very intermittent.
No mention of that when I took out the contract & the company has no problem taking the full payments every month.
Thanks for the advice anyway.
