I have a highly patterned large rug, bought in IKEA - a huge valby ruta for those interested.
This is a wonderful camouflage rug, to the extent that one of my cats vomited on it, and grand daughter (up before me) didn't notice until she'd trodden in it!!
On Sunday, I was on the phone, when I heard a crunch under my foot. I looked down, and after a few minutes carefully looking in the area where I had stood, saw what looked like an owl pellet. I (fortunately) got a piece of kitchen towel, picked it up and studied it .
It was a very small mouse head, still with black shiny eyes, but what was really weird, was that it had no ears !! As the face and portion of neck was pellet shaped, I can only assume this had been vomited by one of my felines. :-|

My sister once found a squirrel's legs and tail on her white carpet.

She owns cats, too, by the way. :-D

I haven't had the rug long - but its certainly getting a battering!!

On Monday, I noticed my fluffiest and smallest sized cat, Betty had a gunky eye.
I thought she probably had a grass seed in it, and, as she was still eating, and managing to elude any attempts to look closely at it, thought I would just keep an eye on it. (excuse the pun), and if it didn't improve to take her to the vet, She also sleeps on the floor when she's not 100% - which is what she was doing.
Yesterday, I noticed she had what looked like bark stuck to her tail.
I say bark - I didn't want to look too closely. :-(
Also, her fur was a bit dull - obviously wasn't feeling energetic enough to wash properly.
I picked up her favourite brush - basically a pad of wires - but she loves it, usually trying to rub her mouth and cheek against it, to try and subtly clear the debris..
She immediately jumps on my lap. I give her a quick brush on her back, then hold the brush between my knees, so she can rub her mouth/cheek against it, while I rolled a cigarette.

I looked down, only to see blood, pus and fur on the brush :-0
- and she was still rubbing her face against it!! I immediately removed it and looked at her face - she'd burst an unseen abcess - a problem with a lot of fur!!!

Within half an hour, her eye was back to normal. I slapped a bread poultice on her face - for a few seconds only - her nickname isn't quicksilver for nothing!
Hopefully a visit to the vet has been averted
Last night she slept on the sofa. This morning she was playing! :-D

Gross! I'm glad that I don't have any pets.

This is a true story...
My sis had a dog, and on Christmas Day about 5yrs ago, he disappeared from the garden.
He returned about 15mins later.... dragging a WHOLE roast turkey in through the back door.
He had stolen it from a neighbours kitchen without being seen or heard.
My sis and her family never told the neighbour that their dog was the theif!
They let her believe that it was a fox!

Years ago, my daughter had a GDS/collie cross. She was a very clever and (usually) obedient girl. Daughter's boyfriend had an unknown breed, was about the size of an Irish Wolfhound, black - and thick.
They were here one Christmas.
Dinner had been eaten, and the remains of the turkey was put in the (cold) oven.
We were in the living room. I heard a 'thump' in the kitchen, then daughter's dog came in (in a 'skulking' manner) and lay under the table. I was suspicious, went into the kitchen and found the other dog eating the turkey!!
Presume daughters dog had opened the oven door (far too difficult for the boy), realised the implications and got out fast!! :-|

Slight change of topic, there's a programme re cats behaviour on Horizon tonight. 9.00 pm. They are tracking a number of cats in a village, to see what they all get up to at night etc., looks interesting.!!

I used to have cats, but they were never too much trouble, but my daughter has one now, and she has had loads of trouble. Cat not wanting to go outside, being sick over clothes etc., She came from rescue, and always so nervous. Such a pity really. She has also brought a live frog in the house.!!

Wish my cats would wear collars - we tried when they were young - a definite no!!
Two of mine are on my bed when I go upstairs, and on there in the morning, but if I wake up at 4am - they're not there!!
