I've been listening to this for the past 2 weeks on Radio 4 extra.

I'm amazed I read the book when I was 10!!!

One of John Wyndham's best books. I read it years ago and also saw the film with Howard Keel and Janette Scott. Film was OK but differed a bit from the book.

Remember watching this on TV with the kids they were terrified....Don't think the youngsters would be worried now.. We did enjoy it though

Love all John Wyndham's books - In addition to Day of the Triffids, I like: The Kraken Wakes; The Chrysalids; Trouble with Lichen; The Midwich Cuckoos, (which was made into a film but named "Village of the Damned".)

HI Staffy - so do I - and read them all before I was 12. Read one and was hooked - yet I would deny I was a Sc-Fi fan
I'm thinking of reading them again

Me too Maggie, I am just going on EBay, Amazon, Play.com to see how much they are.

I've still got them somewhere, I think. Definitely bought them for my daughters, but may have given them to my nephew, who was considered a 'late' reader - but the truth was, he never found anything in the library at primary school that interested him!
Though may have given them to my grand daughter....

Grand daughter's school, asked all children in year 6 to read a book they wouldn;t normally read. My daughter gave my (just) 11 year old grand daughter (who's read all the Harry Potter books) 'The curious incident of the dog in the night'
Grand daughter said it was the best book ever!! :-D
