While trawling through all the channels on my Sky I spotted on the Community Channel (sky 539) a programme called

The Bald Explorer

took a look and was so impressed. Richard Vobes is the Bald Explorer in question, I managed to 'tape' most of 1 and all of another 3 (think I may have missed 1). The first was about early travel and looked at the area around the A5 (London,Shrewsbury, Holyhead road). It was so interesting. Am now looking forward to the other 3. And am keeping a eye out for more.

Do yourself a favour if you do have Sky and keep an eye out for this wonderful show. You would not think it was made for the Community Channel on a very low budget (I even donated some money to ensure that they can make more!!)

Richard Vobes, is enthusiatic, funny and tells the stories in an truly entertaining way.

A real must if you love the local history of our towns around the country. :-)

Been looking at some old Who Do You Think You Are on one of the Realty or such channels . Watched Zoe Wanamaker and it was fascinating . sort of remembered some of it like when her dad was witch hunted in the McCarthy era , and why he settled in Great Britain and his involvement in the Mermaid Theatre . I worked near there and remember the press interest at the time.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode.
