The aftermath of the tragedy in Woolwich

OneFootInTheGrave Report 28 May 2013 07:33

Following the horrific murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich last week there have been angry demonstrations, clashes between radical groups, war memorials vandalised, and Mosques attacked.

I find it disgraceful that this tragic event is being hijacked by radicals on both sides of the equation to further their own ideological goals, every single person involved in these incidents should hang their heads in shame. So should all those politicians who are playing to the gallery as if they were commenting on a game of football instead of dealing with the aftermath of a tragedy, an aftermath which could, as we have seen in Sweden, spiral out of control.

After the events we have witnessed over the weekend, whoever you are and wherever you live, please be careful out there as you go about your daily business.

Although Ibiza seems a safe place to be at the moment ;-)

What UKGov really believes in for badly wounded veterans.

RolloTheRed - it is disgusting the way they are treated, but what can you expect from a Prime Minister who said in December 2011 in a pre-Christmas address to troops, the wording of that was:-

“It is my duty to ensure our brave service personnel and veterans get the support they need and deserve. My guiding principles will be: No service personnel or veterans should suffer disadvantage in accessing public services. Wherever necessary, they will get priority access.”

“Our Armed Forces do so much to keep us safe. This committee will be my way of ensuring our troops and veterans get the support they need. One of its first priorities will be to address the challenges facing hundreds of troops returning from the front line in Afghanistan. In the coming year, I will make sure we deliver.”

The PM’s action group — full name the Armed Forces and Veterans’ Committee — will be made up of ministers across all Government departments that help the forces and former personnel.
