Should our Courts be privatised ???

In my honest opinion this is a step too far :-| what next, maybe they will sell off all the Parliamentary Constituency Seats and Government Ministers Jobs :-|

It is being reported in the Times today that Courts in England and Wales are facing wholesale privatisation under revolutionary plans that would end the system that has existed since Magna Carta.

The idea would establish the courts service as a commercial enterprise, paying its way and freed from Treasury control, with court buildings and thousands of staff put in the hands of private companies.

It would save the Ministry of Justice £1 billion a year. Funding for the courts would be generated by bigger fees from wealthy litigants and private sector investment, with hedge funds encouraged to invest by an attractive rate of return.

Should our Justice System be controlled by Commercial interests?

How are they expecting a 'profit' to be made from running the Courts? Would the intention be to pay all current employees the minimum wage? Who is going to have to top that up? The Government of course!

It is not Tory activists that are swivel-eyed loons - it is the ministers in this government :-S

Of course all courts should be privatised. Who wants to play tennis on a court that is run by the local council?

Sounds like a recipe for corruption to me, you know, the usual sort of goings on you get in any business which becomes profit motivated.
Under the counter deals etc .

definitely should not be privatised - perish the thought

Agree with Budgie.
How are they meant to make a profit?
It'll end up like the banks - we (the public) will pay for the non-profit making part, while 'others' cream off any profit :-P
