There are various reports that David Cameron and Teresa May are going set up a task force to look at what can be done to stop those who promote extreme and violent actions in the name of Islam. They say that they want to stop those involved from using our schools, colleges, prisons and mosques to spread their vile propaganda. If my memory serves me right we have heard this from them before, sounds like a classical example of re-cycling to me ;-)

I am :-S confused, are they telling us that there are not laws currently in place to stop this, are they telling us they did not promise to deal with this before, or is this just another example of political posturing to grab the headlines.

They say a week is a long time in politics, well 2 years must be a millennium and has resulted in some memory loss on the part of the Home Secretary regarding the changes she made to the previous governments Prevent Strategy, albeit that strategy may have been flawed. That aside, the Home Secretary on the 7th June 2011 made a statement in The House of Commons, and apart from cutting the annual budget for that from £63m to £36m, she gave details of what the government was going to do to tackle extremists and terrorism, she said:-

We must not only arrest and prosecute those who breach the law, but we must stop people being drawn into terrorist-related activity in the first place. That will require a new approach to integrating our divided communities, led by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, and delivered by Ministers across the whole of Government.

Have no idea why the Home Secretary clings onto her job. She was on Marr this morning. Have not watched it yet, and perhaps she will come out with wonderful words of wisdom and assurance.

Personally, I doubt it. She looks like an elderly lady wearing a space suit stood in the middle of a tornado. :-S

Obviously they had 'more important' things to consider - like how to ensure the disabled, and others on benefit were suitably castigated.
Oh, and how they could get a pay rise.

While all these things are going on, I hope ET is enjoying

Have now had a chance to watch Home Secretary being "grilled" by Nick Robinson on Andrew Marr this morning. For me, she is evasive and hopeless. And ought to quickly be pushed through the exit door to enjoy her retirement.

How I wished she had been interviewed by Andrew. Or Eddie Maier (who lacks the charm of Marr but asks people the questions we want to ask and is quite aggressive when they answer some other question). And Marr and Meier would not let her sit there in the studio and basically not answer one of the deferential Robinson's questions.

Say something nice? I like Nick's humour and I like Ms May's shoes. :-) :-) And Alan Johnson was very good - look forward to reading his book about growing up in Notting Hill after war.

Everyone should be allowed to take a holiday, however I do think that it was totally inappropriate for the Prime Minister to fly off to Ibiza just days after the horrific murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich - this to me is yet another example of how out of touch he is :-|
