saw a joke i liked on here last night about an essex girl
said it woudnt last till midnight
anyone know when it got rr by some prude or other as it was a deffinate case of evil in the eye of the beholder as nothing was openly suggested and contained no swear words etc

Was it something about tonsils, Terry? I saw it somewhere but the joke has to be really good, and not necessarily smutty, to make me laugh. ps...am not a prude either :-D

something to do with a girl asking the doctor if she will be able to resume activity..after her operation.....doctor replies thats the first time Ive been asked THAT question after a tonsilectomy........

Why is it, that when a thread has been reported, there's the usual comments made abut the reporter, such as....

a) They are a prude
b) They haven't got a life
c) They have no sense of humour
d) They are a sad individuals
e) They can't have any mates
f) I bet they don't own up and say they reported a thread

You never see, comments like, glad they did that, that offended me to.

Why is it that because someone reports something, it is always thought the reporter is a sad individual, rather than someone who finds something offensive and feels comments or a joke shouldn't e on a genealogy site.

Perhaps the reporter has a great life, loads of mates, tells a good joke, but only when in the company of people they know won't be offended, and perhaps they don't own up, because they don't have to, but if they did, they'd get pounced upon for having any morals. Anyone ever thought of that? Doubt it.

By the way thankfully I didn't see the joke, but by the sounds of it, I didn't miss anything, had I of seen it and thought it offensive, I may of reported it, funnily enough I have lots of mates, got a great sense of humour, and a decent life.

Fed up with hearing if someone reports something they are the wrong do-er, not always so.

Some might think people who like smutty jokes have no sense of humour and are in need of a life.

I didn't see it but if it was offensive I'm glad it was reported.

I didn't see the joke, but I have been known to report the odd one....I do have a sense of humour, it can even be quite risque ( I cite for this that I find Mrs Brown's boys very funny) but you have to 'know your audience'. There is such a broad range of people on here it is better to err on the side of caution with jokes....or as the old saying goes

"If it's blue we don't want to hear it !" lol :-D

what can I say BC lol, If you can have an eclectic sense of humour then I have one...I like 'subtle and sophisticated too. but Mrs B reminds me of people I know or knew lol and it's not 'cruel' :-D

but it's a bit of a cross between 'Bread' for the family situations, and a comedy that I vaguely remember from when I was young, 'Me Mammy' .

the point i was trying to make is it was a perfectly innocent joke unless you wished to interpret it another way

The joke was still on here about 9-9.30 this morning when I read it a couple of others had posted on the thread and it was on the first board.

Seeing your posting about it being reported I looked back but there was no sign of it or of it being RRD. I wonder did the op delete himself.?

maybe it was R R'd because it used the "sex" word??

I notice near the knuckle humour almost always gets reported - however it is dressed up. Perhaps best to avoid risque, Frederick. Just think of your audience as including Dot Cotton and Malcolm Muggeridge.

I think your point about comparison with other threads is unfair. You are comparing the Royal Navy with the Girl Guides - two very different animals. :-)
