Glad you found the details Ronald and can attend the service.

My one cousin found out about the death of another cousin because her dau had posted in the local paper where she used to live. I don't take that paper fortunately one male cousin does.
Our only remaining aunt ( his mum) was extremely upset that she hadn't been told (they have her tel number) ,because none of us had a chance of going to the the funeral. :-(

Thanks for all ideas. I tried looking at the online local Andover paper again and found that family had put in a death announcement for paper of 4 May. Now hope to fix hotel and go to funeral on 9 May

I think Rose's suggestion is the best.. that how I've found out about where an ex friend was being buried, the funeral directors ...certainly around here will tell you who is handling the funeral.
Just phone one..they should know.
Perhaps ours is a smaller area than yours, but we have at least 6 locally, they will know and give you details...at least ours do.
Sorry for the the loss of your friend ...RIP

Have you tried a Google search of his name on the off chance that a family announcement about the funeral has been placed in the local newspaper ?

There are crematoria at Salisbury and Basingstoke and Aldershot.

EDIT
Seems there might be a problem at Salisbury....

They can still have cremations,.... but not attended by mourners ? but not services in the chapel there.

If you google

'ludgershall funeral directors'

you could then try phoning to see if one of them is handling the funeral?

An old Sgt Major of mine (1959-1961) died a week or so ago. Me and others want to attend his funeral. We cant obtain info. He lived Ludgershall but cant find nearest crem'. Doesn't seem to be one in Andover. Has anyone any ideas please?
