Spiders are beautiful :-)

Give me a room full of spiders over hysterical girlies any day :-)

My brave OH is certain that when our girls finally move into places of their own, he will no doubt still get panic calls or texts in the night, begging him to come and get the spider ... and they are not ickle anymore either!

Actually my very near and dear friend (who is 31 and I have known her for 31 years :-D) absolutely hates spiders. Even the tiniest, winciest one had to be removed from her bedroom by a brave father when she was ickle. And a brave husband now she is not so ickle :-) :-)

Would you feel the same way if a pretty little kitten had got into your toilet, Glasgow Lass? Or a shetland pony. Spiders are God's creatures too, and to discriminate against them is rather racist imho ;-) Like someone very near and dear to me who is a "veggie", but will eat animals with an unattractive face (step forward chickens and fish for slaughter). :-)

Ha Ha... I tried something like that already!
There are 2 pipes fed through each hole and it's quite difficult to put cardboard over it.
I did stuff crumpled paper all around the pipes and filled as much of the opening as I could.
It needs re-doing and is rather dusty, but I can see where the paper has been pushed OUT slightly. Need OH to help coz I'm worried about the spiders that could be trapped there!

GL Why not get some stiff card and make a circle large enough to cover the gaps round the pipework, cut a hole in the middle to just encircle the pipes and cut a slit so you can slide the cardboard over the gap and round the pipe. Use those sticky spots to keep the cardboard in place close to the wall, and spider won't get out again. You can even paint the card a matching colour.

Ha, a mind reading spider, lol He knew where you were off to and decided to make a hasty retreat, live to fight another day and all that!

I saw the robin take some food in it's beak and fly off yesterday so seems to be feeding babies. He ate all the spider tho, didn't fly off with any titbits then.

Can( just about) do spiders... but not worms or buzzing insects.

Me thinks spidey crawled up behind the radiator and back through the hole he came out of. He must have been pretty darned speedy about it, coz I was back to get him within 2 mins of the sighting.
Spider catching equipment is always close at hand in this house. :-0

I know where all the spiders that visit my house come from.
The wall cavities!
Fairly new build house with concrete floors mean that central heating pipes are fed through the walls rather than under the floor.
Behind the radiators is a hole that feeds the flexi pipes through.
( BTW great for decorating... radiators just lift off the wall. No disconnecting required)
The holes are much bigger than the pipework ( blooming builders) and the spiders exit through here.
OH has promised to deal with it, and fill the gaps but... we have been waiting 10 years for him to do it.
..... and that's 10 yrs of big ugly spiders!

Bearing in mind the post by Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond, maybe it had burst "Alien" style from a robin!
I expect it saw you were worried and ran under the door after you all the way down the hall shouting Bo! at the top of his little spider voice ;-)

It's not the large spiders I'm scared off it's the blooming tiny wee things that can run over you without you knowing .....How many small spiders do they say you swallow when your sleeping ?????? LOL!

I daren't tell my girls... they are all terrified of spiders and will refuse to go in there.

OH and I went away for the weekend last September, when we started getting texts about a monster spider in the house.
2 of them sat in the hall ... yes the hall for a whole 5 hours in a Mexican Stand Off, making sure it didn't disappear. The 3rd was holed up in her room refusing to come down until it was gone. She is the only one who can cook and told them to get rid of it or starve!
Eventually youngest plucked up the courage to go next door for help... except there was an even bigger spider on their front door!
She finally went to another neighbour, whose13yr old son came to the rescue and removed it.
All three were very hungry.

It is a sad but well known, fact, Ann, that said large hairy (I am assuming it was hairy) spider will cunningly roll him/herself into a tiny ball and hide somewhere in the rim of toilet, all ready to.....

Went into my tiny downstairs toilet to find a large, black, unmoving spider on the floor tiles.
I backed out of the loo and took about 2mins to arm myself with my special spider catching equipment. ( an old plastic spaghetti jar and a fly swat)
All prepared to flick spidey in to jar, and put him outside, I opened the toilet door.... and he has vanished!
I have since cleaned in there,, washed the floor, and there is still no sign of him ??
