My Comfort Zone
Unknown

I used to have a comfort zone
where I knew I wouldn’t fail.
The same four walls and busywork
were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before,
But stayed inside my comfort zone and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn’t matter that I wasn’t doing much.
I said I didn’t care for things like commission checks and such.
I claimed to be so busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn’t let my life go by just watching others win.
I held my breath; I stepped outside and let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and closed and locked the door.

If you’re in a comfort zone, afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.
A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true.

Reach for your future with a smile; success is there for you!

This is to remind me to try something new, if not every day, at least once a week.

Thanks Susan I will C & P and stick up in the kitchen, just the kick up the butt I need :-)

Thinks I have been far too complacent ;-)

Good Morning Lolly although I expect you are not about still :-)

I had to read it again myself as I was about to slip into complacency.

Today I have a competition but wasn't going to go. I kept persuading myself that missing it wouldn't matter, but I am willing myself to go even though we may not win, it is good practice.

Just over two years ago I got out of my comfort zone and tried something new which was dog training and agility. I have met many lovely people and would not now change things for the world......tis just getting the courage to make myself enter the competitions is the hardest part now......plus I have to drive to places further than I usually drive......definitely out of my comfort zone. :-(

I have to get out of bed in about 13 hours (4.30a.m.) so I can take part in a sunrise walk (5 km) in the Botanic Gardens, starting at 7.45. The early rising is so I have plenty of time (I hope) to have breakfast, go todaloo, get washed and dressed, make sure cat has enough food and water, lock up the house, put on my boots, make sure I have my bag with water bottles and sunhat (and rain gear?) and walking stick and camera. Get in the wagon and drive to the Gardens (about 45 mins) and find parking not too far (I hope) from the starting point. I just hope I can get to sleep at 8pm tonight. I will need the help of a sleeping pill I suppose. I will probably have nightmares about being late and finding I am not dressed, just in my undies! Ah well, as long as I dont really find that when I get there.

Another inspirational poem that I have often referred to in the past is this one..

If you think you are beaten, you are,

If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost,
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will.
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But soon or late the man who wins,
Is the man who thinks he can.

Wow,Susan with, well done for moving so far out of your comfort zone..
hope that the dog training and agility competition is successful.Thank you for that poem,I haven't seen that one before,it's very appropriate for me at the moment.

Huia,I really admire your determination in getting up very early to go for your sunrise walk in the Botanical gardens,I hope that you enjoy it.

Tenerife Sun,I've seen that poem before,it's a beauty.Good to see it again.

I'm trying to walk for half an hour every day at the moment-I used to do it,then got out of the habit and got lazy and put on some weight.
I've been for a walk 4 days in a row this week,I'm taking it one day at a time.
I have a sore knee, but I need to walk to lose weight, and maybe to avoid a knee reconstruction. I also suspect that I'm prediabetic,so doubly need to exercise.So...onwards and upwards, and I'm out of my
house by 7am every morning. :-) :-)

In many ways the stroke has been very positive for my dad,Fred.

He has been forced to step out of his comfort zone or go under and be an invalid and he has embraced the challenge with both hands, well the one that still works anyway!

Now he can see better as well there is no stopping him.

Good for Fred Sharron, It can be very hard to get out of the comfort zone but always worth it in the long run.

I have climbed out of the comfort zone at various times. I didnt always want to but did and the hardest part the first step.

Thankyou Susan and TS, I have never seen those poems, they are very inspiring

I got home a short while ago and am so pleased with myself for making the huge effort to get out of my comfort zone and go.....It would have been so easy to have made excuses. One rosette one clear round but have learned much by just being there. Tomorrow will be much easier now that I know the way. the hundred miles went by quite quickly and I only moaned once :-D

I am pleased the the poem gave some inspiration. I do love inspirational poems there is always one that fits the mood. I love that one too Tenerife :-)
