Susan10146857 Report 12 Apr 2013 23:21

Could we but draw back the curtain,
That surrounds each others lives,
See the naked heart and spirit;
Know what spur the action gives;
Often we would find it better,
Purer then we think we would.
We would love each other better,
If we only understood.

Nothing....I was just being erm...can't think of the word......I was thinking about friendship and came across that poem

But thank you both for your concern :-).......Tonight has reminded me of the days we all looked out for each other and whoever was awake late at night looked out for anyone who needed someone to talk to......There was a thread...or two.....called nighthawks where anyone who was about just popped in even if it was to say goodnight

Here is another

If I knew you and you knew me,
If both of us could clearly see,
And with an inner sight divine,
The meaning of your heart and mine,
I'm sure that we would differ less,
And clasp our hands in friendliness;
Our thoughts would pleasantly agree,
If I knew you and you knew me.

"And a youth said, "Speak to us of Friendship."
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. "

*For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth*

I am not sure I agree with that entirely but I expect this is not the forum to dissect and ponder on the intricacies of such wonderful words.......

Friends don't nick your lover
they just make do without
they don't tell naughty porkies
and never ever shout
Friends wiil be as honest
as they can be without hurt
and friends will always tell you
if your nose is smudged with dirt.
