Bognor or not?

I often used to go to Bognor when a child and then a teenager. Used to go by car with my parents, then by train with OH.

I am further round the harbour,which is still all mud. The beach front hasn't changed very much since the seventies when I worked in that cafe.

It's the King's Beach ,the hotel and railway carriage houses are still there. The road down by the church has not changed much over the years either but you can't ride your bike over the banks any more without lifting it over styles.

I used to holiday as a child at Pagham Beach, which I think is where you live. It was in the early 1950's and there wasn't much there then. A small amusement arcade and a couple of pubs. We usually stayed in a holiday home built around a railway carriage and somewhere in front of the Kings Head, I think that is what the hotel was called. We also stayed in a little bungalow on the edge of the Lagoon. I looked at Pagham on Google earth a while ago and I think it must have grown a lot

Researching:
Matthew and Jane Elwood who had my great great grandfather Francis Edward Elwood baptised in 1807 at Horsham Sussex. There is no sign of Matthew or Jane from this date and my great great grandfather was brought up as Francis Edward Elwood MITCHELL

That was exactly what he said when I first suggested they should go there.

I put it down to delusions of grandeur.He thinks he is GeorgeV.

Funnily enough,he has,in the past,spoken of going on a Sunday school outing to Bognor when the king was convalescing at Aldwick and being told to play quietly on the beach so as not to disturb him.

As you know,it was sausage sandwich day today. Fred went to the cafe for his lunch yesterday and has now announced that they are going again tomorrow.

This afternoon,I was talking to him about the possibility of going to Bognor and what shops there are over there.

When he heard me mention Bognor to his mate he turned quite defensive and said he didn't want to know.

I think he was busily turning Bognor into his idea when I interrupted him. He will be on that bus before we know it.
