He was a she :-)

Gemini the Rottweiler who thought she was a poodle, nearly a year gone and still missing her so much, every now and then I change the avatar but have to have it back again, I know it's soppy.

Shame their lives are so short they give us so much :-)

he's lovely and doesn't spoil things at all - what's his name?

Isn't it lovely when work is planned out well in the first place & minimum disruption is caused to inhabitants

As we are on London clay the mess when amenities are renewed is awful, wet weather certainly doesn't help!!

The best crews we ever had consisted of just two Eastern Europeans laying paving slabs, they worked liked Trojans, cleaned up every evening and did a great job, much appreciated by most although there are always some will complain :-(

BTW.....I was almost sorry to spoil the colour coordination on this thread, all the purple avatars look so good together :-D :-D

Please..............send them to Kent!!!!

Actually, there is a road sign nearby warning that the road would be closed for 4 nights (before BT and the Waterboard have dug it up) for resurfacing. It should have happened over the bank holiday weekend, but didn't, probably because bad weather had delayed it. We still don't know when/if it's going to happen as they haven't changed the dates on the sign.

and they're still hard at it as we speak

AnnCardiff Report 8 Apr 2013 18:53

well we were informed by letter - with an accompanying DVD - that it was the Water Board, but they are working in conjunction with the Gas people - seems to be running very smoothly

wouldn't it be a good idea to have a trench in every road, covered by a removable cover, which covered every service, then instead of having to dig things up all the time they just lifted the covers

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 8 Apr 2013 18:39

They ought to talk to the companies in Kent.

The water board has actually written a letter to the Parish Council saying that it can't co-ordinate the trench digging with British Telecom because of 'health and safety' :-| :-|

It's nice to see that companies can coordinate with each other instead of one digging everywhere up then the next one coming along a couple of weeks after the first lot have gone.

AnnCardiff Report 8 Apr 2013 17:54

it's a pleasure to see, plus the fact that they all have good jobs and are hard working and good at what they are doing - young and old amongst them

Of course those who complain won't have a problem if the water supply dries up, the gas stops and the electric goes off.

Good to see you have a good bunch of guys working there.

AnnCardiff Report 8 Apr 2013 17:32

At th moment, and for nine weeks apparently we have the water and gas boards renewing all the pipes - what a mess, but boy are they hard workers - digging deep holes and filling them in again - vans everywhere - a really community spirit has sprung from this - I've just taken out a tray = two teapots plus hot water, ten cups, biscuits, the lot - others are doing the same - such lovely guys

Of course there are one or two people in the road who have done nothing but complain and abuse them, but on the whole we're looking after them
