The Village.........

Mauatthecoast Report 7 Apr 2013 22:45

Watching on BBC tonight, the series has the makings of a good drama but soo slow. Is it just me or does anyone else feel we have to 'make up' the dialogue as it goes along (if you know what I mean.) :-S
.......and blimey no guesses for who the actor father of Det.Stephen Bairstow is? certainly a chip off the old block! :-)

Just watched the end. Saw John Sim on Marr this morning talking about it, and he is a fabulous actor. The wife and young boy were good too.

Thought he said on Marr that this was the second of six episodes. That he was at his lowest half way through this second episode then things improved. But not listening that closely, so could well be wrong.

Some talk of programme following the village through almost whole of 20th century. Looked promising to me. :-)

Yes I saw the interview this morning and agree John Simm is a very good actor.Don't think I've ever seen him give a bad performance.

Hope the series improves as it should be interesting following the various stories of the village through the 20th century.....bit duller living there than Downton :-(

Kay????

I very rarely watch TV drama or soaps, yes I guessed Joe's dad. Had no idea of his name or what he had been in, but he is so distinctive looking. My second guess after Alun Armstrong was Ray? Postlethwaite :-)

This type of life is much more relevant to most of our family research. It is real - it happened to our folk.

Det.Stephen Bairstow is played by Joe Armstrong son of Alun...could be twins lol :-D

You thinking of the late Peter Postlethwaite John? he was another great actor!

Yes, Mau. Did he look a bit like Alun Armstrong, or am I imagining it.

I so enjoyed that police series about Life on Mars. It so reminded me of the way the police operated in those days. I usually cannot comment on these TV threads cos I see so little. Never watch films, seldom watch dramas :-(

Like Kay and yourself Jean I'm hoping it picks up next week.

John you never watch films or drama? :-0 you don't know what you're missing......start tomorrow it's never too late :-D

Google Alun and Joe and see you're not imagining things :-S

Mau. Think you are right about missing out. Have never watched Downton, for example.

It was Pete and Alun I was comparing. Have seen how similar Joe was to Alun :-) Real chip off block.
