it feels a bit Springlike! For the first time, I've felt like venturing into the garden, now that that awful cold Easterly wind has stopped, and the sun is shining. It really makes you feel optimistic.
I'm writing this in my summerhouse in the garden. It's just had it's annual spring clean, and is looking spruce and ready for the days ahead. I hope I haven't put a jinx on the weather!
Anybody else feeling springlike and looking forward to warmer days? :-)

Hi Geordie

Just thinking the same thing. It was too hot to have our lunch in the conservatory today. Thats gotta be a first this year.
I walked round the garden mentally totting up the jobs to be done too. Must pass that on to my OH ha ha.
Have been watching a blackbird gathering nesting stuff and flying up in our large Camelia.
It all certainly makes you feel better doesn't it. Happy days ahead :-D

Made me feel the same, Geordie, so I made the most of it. I took all my over-wintered Geraniums from the conservatory to the greenhouse, cleaned them up, and watered them, for the first time. So, in a few days, hopefully when they have had a good soak, they will be looking alot healthier.
Now, all I have to do, is give the conservatory a good fettle out, from top to bottom . But , as it is Sunday afternoon, that is enough work for now, so I will do some of my crocheting, until it is time to start the evening meal.
It has given me the spurt I needed to make a start, and even the OH managed to go to the allotment, and do abit.

Onwards and upwards from now, in the garden.

I've found one disadvatage to this fine weather - OH has abandoned the task of fitting the new kitchen and is gardening instead! Can't say I blame him, but I'm hoping to have it finished by Chritmas. :-|

Been a terrible year for daffodils - pity, they are my favourite flowers.
Only 60% were what I call nice blooms, the rest were stunted or just did not open.

Well was getting worried cos Harold the tortoise who is over 50 years old did surface a few weeks ago but didn't venture out of his house on the patio. He usually wake s in Feb or early march depending on the weather .

He didn't come out of his house and the weather closed in again so worried he may have not re hibernated .

If they wake but dont eat but just sleep again their body will eat up body fat and eventually their organs will fail and they will die.

Have been really concerned cos no sign he was still alive. would hate to lose him.

I said to hubby this morning I will have to take a look cos its the latest he has surfaced and gone walkabout since we had him in the 1960,s

Good news I opened his house door and he was OK very sluggish but wanting to move a little bit to the open door. relief he is still with us. Bless him
:-D :-D :-D

My daffs kept getting battered down by the North Easterly winds, and are only now reluctanty blooming. Last year, most of them came up blind, due to the dry winter, I suppose.

Geordie yes like some family pets they get left at home when the child marrys and they cant take em with them.

He was our daughters pet but she married an Army guy so it wasnt practical for her to take him with her. lots of Army quarters didnt accept pets and she moved around with her hubby to Germany etc. she did have other pets but restrictions when they came home to the UK stopped them bring pets home. fortunately they found em new homes .

Harold was left with us and we have looked after him and he is part of our family now along with our cat who is 16 years old.

You do worry about them :-(

Harold is an old mate who we love to bits so would be sorry if he popped his clogs
