Just about anything and everything! Cholera epidemics, smallpox, TB were big killers but dieases and infections which we can fight today were sometimes killers. Recent immigrants to an area may have no immunity to the 'local' infections. |

A google search will show several websites, but measles, smallpox, thypoid etc., along with malnutrition and poor sanitary conditions will all have played a part. |

I've noticed a lot of deaths in the late 1870's and 1880's of young children under the age of 5yrs and parents in their 40's whilst searching a family tree in Hackney and London.. Can anyone tell me what illness's ware rife around that time please. |
